That serve at 8:15 was definitely out, it’s a good thing we have hawk eye
    system in place now.

When I saw this match I knew Capriati would never go winning a Slam again
and would fail on reaching a single final! Even with the crowd against her,
Henin did her thing and fought to death! This the difference between a good
    player and a great champion!

Capriati is such a bitch, looking at how sore she looks at the end. She
didn’t even bother to do a proper handshake.

  • By LKING999, October 17, 2014 @ 12:23 pm

Loving the point starting at 2.47

  • By ThangsTennis, October 17, 2014 @ 1:13 pm

Juju is the best player in the world..What a match! Her both US open wins
were fantastic that produced two greatest matches(USO Semi 2003, USO Semi
2007). Both against fellow americans in front of new york crowd..

  • By Bryguy Bry, October 17, 2014 @ 1:56 pm

Always found it hard to cheer for Jennifer with her constant whining about
calls that she is wrong about, her lack of speaking up in the serena match
the following year and her passive game where she just tired to get
    everything back

  • By JordanjamesX, October 17, 2014 @ 1:58 pm

Capriati is such a joke she lost THREE 7-6 in the third three set
semifinals at the US OPEN first to Seles, then to Henin and finally to
Dementieva. Capriati also lost to Venus is a quick straight set win in
2001. Very surprising that Capriati NEVER reached a US OPEN final.

That woman did NOT have to scream UNBELIEVABLE! Totally uncalled for.
    Probably blew my fucking speaker.

  • By Jolan L, October 17, 2014 @ 2:31 pm

No you don’t, but there are rare matches that come close.

  • By AdvertChild98, October 17, 2014 @ 3:16 pm

@iMidnightSkies Well don’t blame Henin as Capriati got so many
opportunities there to close up the match, but she did terribly on crucial
points. I don’t know what was going on in Capriati’s mind at that time, but
I am certain she must be pretty mad at herself.

  • By jan tellit, October 17, 2014 @ 3:42 pm

It proves nothing she had limitations to her game like not having a big
reliable serve as a weapon. Losing 7-6 in the third set 3 times means your
giving it all you’ve got and it’s not enough. Tough luck that’s all. it
happen in sport it wasn’t meant to be for her. She fought hard that’s all
    an athlete can do.

  • By Joe Momma, October 17, 2014 @ 3:48 pm

This match effectively ended Capriati’s career. She never got over the loss.

  • By iMidnightSkies, October 17, 2014 @ 4:46 pm

@LobOverTheBackhand That’s not exactly true. She reached Roland Garros SF
and US Open SF in 2004…

  • By JordanjamesX, October 17, 2014 @ 5:39 pm

Capriati is the worst bitch in WTA and women tennis history she always was
very bitchy and salty whenever she lost a match no surprise that Jennifer
gave Justine such a brief handshake.

  • By jan tellit, October 17, 2014 @ 5:45 pm

Cap moves really well to be such a big woman. Jenifer always brought a lot
of swagger & attitude to every match in her second career.

  • By househeadericmd, October 17, 2014 @ 6:02 pm

Henin’s backhand was like a piece of art. So was Mauresmo’s. Gasquet has a
    nice one too. 🙂

  • By lonutzz, October 17, 2014 @ 6:20 pm

In my opinion Henin’s backhand is the best i’ve seen in women’s
    circuit….Such versatility..

  • By Inediblehulk, October 17, 2014 @ 7:04 pm

You don’t but the next wave of top female talent is due to surface in the
next few years so it should pick up again then….

  • By Bryguy Bry, October 17, 2014 @ 7:14 pm

And let’s add the poor handshake after a great match kinda graf like

  • By Dionte Brown, October 17, 2014 @ 7:38 pm

dont forget henin retiring in the middle of the final against Amelie
Mauresmo while Henin was being whooped 6-1, 2-0

  • By Baritone Master, October 17, 2014 @ 8:26 pm

henin crampin after three hours in a match doesnt sound like her she is
known for being fit well everyone has their off days physically and
mentally she just pushed through and fought hard

  • By JordanjamesX, October 17, 2014 @ 8:51 pm

Also remember, Capriati also lead 5-3 in the second set as well, Capriati
simply capitulated under the pressure she had a million chances to win this
match but always crumbled under the pressure at the US OPEN.

  • By househeadericmd, October 17, 2014 @ 9:36 pm

    really? ur an idiot!

  • By operamusicfan, October 17, 2014 @ 10:19 pm

    She’s a typical obese American.

  • By jan tellit, October 17, 2014 @ 10:20 pm

Nothing wrong with being salty or bitchy Jen was a character. Very NYC she
had swagger. She took it seriously there’s room for every personality in
sport. She wasn’t the Ty Cobb of women’s tennis was she? But even a female
Bobby Knight or a Ty Cobb have a place in sport.
