Juan Martin Del Potro is eager to make a comeback

Juan Martin suffered from a wrist injury for which he undertook a surgery in late March and is returning home. Dr. Berger performed the surgery at Mayo Clinic. The decision of undergoing for a surgery proved advantageous as the ligaments were broken.

Now he is under the process of recovery. He was judged as the comeback player by the ATP in 2011. For him injuries are a part and parcel of any sport and so does the recovery time. But if the mind is made up then none can stop a player from returning back and similarly Del Potro feels that he has got lot to deliver under his belt. His entire concentration is to recover well and be on the court. He knows for sure that comeback is not going to be easy for him when he makes a comeback in the upcoming year as he will no longer be in the top 10 but that is not stopping him to start from scratch. He has to regain is momentum along with the strength to sustain for long on the court and test his resilience.

He was in pain when he was playing and he did not want to stop but he had to take a decision. However, he did go in for a training session on the court in Argentina. He is backed by his coach who is trying hard to make him appear for the U.S Open title. This is not the first time that he has been prone to injuries rather it is his second time. He has months with him to practice, train and get back in shape with will power. It will not be long when he appears on the competitive tennis court after his rehabilitation.

Roddick Criticizes Monfils

Andy Roddick has criticized the Frenchman Gael Monfils for not trying his level best in the final set of his French Open quarter final match against Andy Murray of Scotland.

Monfils had got down by a couple of sets in that match and it appeared as if he would lose pretty soon, but, he pulled things back fantastically well as he won the third and the fourth set with utmost ease to push the match into the decider.

At that point of time, he was looking the favourite to pull off that epic contest, but, suddenly, the light faded a bit and because of the lack of any artificial lighting system at Roland Garros, it appeared as if the match would be stopped and would go on tomorrow. But, the match officials didn’t do that. They decided that the light was good enough for the final set to be carried on and there was no need for the play to be halted.

Surprisingly, right from the start of the 5th set, Monfils didn’t look enthusiastic at all. A guy who had just crushed his opponent in the previous two sets should have charged down and tried to be ultra aggressive, but, on the contrary, the Frenchman was on the back foot and Murray took full advantage of that.

The Scot needed just 20 odd minutes to win the decider and made it to the round of 4.

Roddick was not happy at all with the kind of effort Monfils put in that last set. He wrote on his twitter page, “I just hate seeing somebody not putting his 100% when things get a little difficult. It gets me pissed off really.”

Now, in the semi final round, Murray will take on the World no. 1 Rafael Nadal.
