WILLAMS WIN GOLD

The American pair of Venus Williams and Serena Williams have won the Gold medal in the women’s tennis doubles competition of London Olympics. The Williams sisters defeated the Czech pair of Lucie Hradecka and Andrea Hlavackova. This is the third Gold medal for the Williams sisters in the Olympics. The Williams sisters won the match in the straight sets by 6-4, 6-4. The American pair hit a total of 17 winners in the match and didn’t let the Czech players settle into their groove.

The Williams sisters got the breakthrough in the very first game of the match. The American pair served out the next game to make the score 2-0. The Czech pair didn’t manage to make a comeback after that. The Williams sister held their service in the remaining games and won the first set by 6-4. Read more »

Andy Roddick Leaves Wimbledon, Uncertain of a Return

As the three time runner up at Wimbledon Andy Roddick walked off the court after being beaten by Spaniard David Ferrer in the third round at the All England Club, he blew a few kisses and waved at the crowd in such a manner that rumors have already begun to surface that the 29 year old former US Open champion might not be making a return to the famous courts of London anytime again.

With his 12th attempt at winning the most famous Grand Slam event of the tennis calendar up in smoke once again, Roddick was, however, adamant that he had not come to any decisions regarding his future in the game.

Speaking at a press conference after his loss, Roddick stated that on a personal level, he played a far better game in the defeat to the seventh seeded Ferrer than he had done in a long time and added that he was looking forward to returning to the All England Club in a month’s time to take part in the summer Olympic Games.
